This 3-day desert adventure combines the dramatic landscapes of Todra Gorge with an unforgettable experience in the Merzouga Sahara. Departing from Fes, the journey crosses Ifrane, the cedar forests near Azrou, traditional Berber villages and the Middle Atlas Mountains. After an overnight stay near Todra Gorge, continue through the southeastern desert towns to Rissani and Merzouga. A sunset camel trek leads across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes to a comfortable desert camp, where dinner, traditional music and a peaceful night beneath the stars await. The return journey to Fes follows the palm-filled Ziz Valley and the scenic mountain roads of central Morocco.

Your Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Fes to Todra Gorge

   Depart from your hotel or riad in Fes at approximately 8:00 AM and travel toward Ifrane, a peaceful mountain town known for its European-inspired architecture. Continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains to the cedar forests near Azrou, where you may encounter Barbary macaques among the ancient trees. Travel through mountain landscapes, Berber villages and natural viewpoints before stopping for lunch in Midelt. In the afternoon, continue across the Atlas region toward Tinghir and Todra Gorge. Arrive in time to admire the changing colours of the canyon at sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in a mountain-side hotel near the gorge.

2. Day 2

   Todra Gorge to Merzouga

   After breakfast, explore Todra Gorge on a guided walk between its towering limestone cliffs and along the river. Continue through Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud toward Rissani, a historic desert town known for its traditional market and connection to Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty. You may enjoy the local speciality Medfouna, commonly known as Berber pizza, during the lunch stop. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon and meet your camel guide at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Ride across the golden sands while watching the sunset before reaching the desert camp. Enjoy mint tea, dinner, traditional Berber music and an unforgettable night in a private tent beneath the Sahara sky.

3. Day 3

   Merzouga to Fes

   Wake early to admire the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Return from the desert and begin the journey toward Fes through Erfoud and the spectacular Ziz Valley. Stop at panoramic viewpoints overlooking palm groves and traditional settlements. Continue through Midelt, the Middle Atlas Mountains and the cedar forests before arriving in Fes in the late afternoon or evening.
