5 Days Tangier Desert Tour

This 5-day Tangier desert tour combines the cultural highlights of northern Morocco with the landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains and the Sahara. Begin by exploring Tangier and Chefchaouen before travelling to Fes, Morocco’s spiritual capital. Continue through Ifrane, the cedar forests near Azrou, Midelt and the Ziz Valley toward Merzouga. Ride a camel across the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset and spend the night in a traditional desert camp. Return to Fes through Rissani and the Middle Atlas Mountains before enjoying a half-day guided visit and transferring back to Tangier.

Your Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Tangier to Chefchaouen

   Meet your driver upon arrival in Tangier and begin with an introduction to the city. Continue through the scenic Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, with panoramic and rest stops along the way. Arrive in the blue city for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

2. Day 2

   Chefchaouen to Fes

   After breakfast, enjoy half a day to explore Chefchaouen’s blue medina, traditional weaving quarters, colourful streets and main square. After lunch, depart toward Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. Check in at your hotel or riad for dinner and an overnight stay.

3. Day 3

   Fes to Merzouga

   After an early breakfast, depart south through Ifrane and continue toward the cedar forests near Azrou. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in Midelt for lunch. Continue through Tizi n’Talghamt, Errachidia and the Ziz Valley, with panoramic stops overlooking the oasis. Pass through Aoufous, Erfoud and Rissani before reaching Merzouga. Meet your camel guide and ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. Enjoy dinner, traditional music and an overnight stay in a desert camp.

4. Day 4

   Merzouga to Fes

   Wake early to admire the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast and departure. Travel through Rissani and the Ziz Valley before continuing toward Midelt. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and pass the cedar forests near Azrou before arriving in Fes. Dinner and overnight stay in Fes.

5. Day 5

   Fes Guided Visit and Return to Tangier

   After breakfast, begin a guided half-day visit of Fes. Explore the medina’s narrow streets and discover landmarks such as the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, the Andalusian Mosque, Nejjarine Fountain, historic madrasas, Batha Palace and the Chouara Tanneries. After lunch, transfer to Tangier and conclude the tour with drop-off at the port or another agreed location.
